yesterday, i had the pleasure, no, dare i say the privilege, of going to the chancellors office in long beach. apparently since the keeper of the academic calendar left, i became the keeper of the calendar. so… i put my butt on an airplane and set off on a journey to learn about calendaring in the csu.
what a load of crap. i have no idea why i had to go… i have no idea why sjsu had to pay for me to fly down, to watch someone go over powerpoint slides. hello? isn’t that why companies have video conference rooms? why didn’t i sit in a video conference room? i’m sure it would have been a ton cheaper!
i will say that i got to meet people, and that people actually talked to me. not like a normal work day… it was nice. i had a very political conversation with a woman from dominguez hills. and, i will say that the chancellors office orders in a mean lunch. the lemon squares were to die for. i wish i had taken some to go.
this meeting, which was supposed to last until 4, was over at 1:30. i was at the airport by 2:30, trying to get out of la early. my flight was scheduled to leave at 6:30… that my friends is 4 hours hanging out at lax. icky! so, i got myself booked on the next earliest flight, leaving at 4:45. hmmm. not that much earlier was it. needless to say, that flight was delayed. i didn’t get out of la until 5:45… a whole 45 minutes early. can you say wow, i’m impressed? i wasn’t. apparently flying to san jose is a difficult thing.
on a side note, i was watching that new show “airline” on a&e the other night. they were at lax, taking about this dreaded gate. 3A, the gate from hell. i flew in and out of that gate. what a co-winkie-dink. i was looking around to see if i recognized anyone from the show, but i didn’t. bummer. who would have guessed that southwest gate agents and stewards would now be tv stars? i wouldn’t.
Look who’s talking…
