I’m home
So, I'm back at the house... Still stealing bandwith from one of my neighbours on the rented laptoo. I'm too tired to write now so I'm going to bed. You know, maybe I need to learn how to let things go. I hope I can.

MAX 2004 - Day 5
Today I was tired. Really tired. I've not stayed up so late in a long time. However, I decided that this was the day to go to the yarn store. I had picked three to look at, but decided after reading reviews at fiberphile, that I would only go to one. The Garden District Needleworks. It was a great store. Lots of more inexpensive yarns than at my local yarn store. I ended up getting almost $100 worth of yarn. I bought Reynolds Lopi Light, which I've heard about but never seen, Cascade 220, Brown Sheep Naturespun, and a couple more. I think I bought enough to make 5 more purses. I also got an interesting tip. One of the girls in my GNO group is allergic to wool. So, I picked up some 100% cotton. The sales person told me to use regular thread as like an extra strand so that the cotton wouldn't stretch once it was knitted. It's really supposed to stableize it. Isn't that interesting. I'm going to try it for a purse. I was going to pick up some cherry hill yarn, but at $40 a skein, I decided to put it back. I really wanted a Lousiana yarn. They didn't have any. Since I didn't feel like going anywhere else, I decided to do without. I took the bus back over to the hotel's side of town. By this time I was starving. I stopped at Mothers for a sandwich. It was so good. Roast Beef, Ham, some sort of salad, god only knows what all was on that sandwich. I could only eat 1/2 of my 1/2 sandwich. It was so tasty. I totally recommend Mothers. Yummy stuff, and cheap. Very helpful. When I got back to the hotel, Karen was back from session, and we were going to take Darrin out for a thank you dinner. Darrin ended up going home to his wife (very smart idea on his part). Karen and I went to Bourbon Street. We went early, like 6. My primary mission was to find a voodoo store. We found one. I bought 3 voodoo dolls for my GNO friends (why I never get myself one is beyond me. But I never do, I always buy 3.) I also got a "come to me" candle. I'm going to try and get a boy. After my reading with the tarot card reader (who said I was going to get what ever I wanted in life, I just had to ask for it), I figure if I really want a man in my life, I need to ask for the right things to make it happen. Maybe the candle will help, you never know. {off topic} The reader said that I needed to write these things down. Focus on two, and all the rest would come too. I just need to get to the point where I can be concice. I said to myself before I got to New Orleans that it would be great to meet someone and I did, it just wasn't the kind of thing I thought I wanted. I wasn't concice about what I wanted. Thus, I'm taking my time writing down what I want so that I can make sure I'm not dissapointed. {/off topic} We had dinner at Pat O'Briens. It was ok. Nothing special. No, I did not have a hurricane. I didn't even have dessert. That was wrong. I should have. But, I really was tired and wanted to go back to the room. So, we went back. We sat at the bar for awhile, but it wasn't the same. I went to bed.

MAX 2004 - Day 4 continued…
Wednesday night at Max was Mardi Gras World. The shuttle bus started taking us over at 7:30. The activities/event wasn't that different than the event they had in Washington DC, when I went with Dan all those years ago. They had people doing caricatures, tarot card and palm readers, psychics and the like. There were appetizers, and more alcohol than I've seen in a long time. Ok, well, than I've seen since the welcome reception. Most people were having a good time, but I think both Karen and I wanted to go sit at the bar again and flirt with the bartender (whose name is Darrin). They had a parade go through the building, complete with a marching band and floats. They even had police escort. Very fun. I saw Dan and Jeanette there. They looked like they were just as ready to go as I was. When we got back to the hotel (about 9:45), Darrin was working and Karend and I sat down. We really were having fun flirting with him. It was about that time I found out he was married. That was a huge bummer. He was such a fun guy, and since he had asked Karen to go with him and have drinks after work on Tuesday, I had just assumed he was single. Nope I was wrong. However that didn't stop me from flirting. Just after 11:15, the bar exploded. All the Macromedia people came back to the hotel, and they weren't done drinking. Both Karen and I were hoping to go out with Darrin after work, but things weren't slowing down. It wasn't until close to 12:45 that the bar cleared out. Just about midnight, a guy named Rob sat down next to Karen. We three had some conversation, but mostly he was talking to her. That was fine. I was pretty tired by this point, and I was ready to go to bed. By the time Darrin got off, I had decided not to go out. Darrin asked Karen and I to stick around for a minute, and he brought Karen and I beads. I got really good beads. I decided that I would really rather go to bed than watch Karen and Darrin drink, so I went up to my room. Within 10 minutes of me being in my room, the phone rang. It was Rob asking me to go back out and find Karen and Darrin. It didn't take much convincing. I got out of bed, and went with Rob to find them. I ended up spending the rest of the evening with Rob. He was a nice guy... I know lots of random stuff about him, but I wouldn't know how to get in touch with him. Thats sad. He might have had friendship potenital. But, no last name makes it hard to contact someone.

MAX2004 - Day 4
Yesterday was day three. I think I'm exausted. Decided to go to general session today. HATED IT. What a waste of time. The sessions were pretty good today. I'm in Ben Forta's class from 4 - 5:30. Now, that should be good. Flirted with the bar tender at the hotel last night. People waiting for machine, can't talk about it. Damn.

MAX 2004 - Day 3 finalized.
Dinner Tuesday night was awesome. I met up with my friend Dan from Aspect and his wife Jeanette. I had been looking forward to seeing him for weeks. I knew his would be the only friendly face I would see. We ended up going to Mulate's. I had red beans and rice, ice tea and chocolate carmel cheesecake with pecans for dessert. I, my friends, am a very lucky girl. My food was excellent, and so was the company. Honestly, I like red beans and rice. I'm going to have to figure out how to make it here. I can't imagine it would be too difficult. It came with a huge piece of sausage. It also seemed to have chicken in there somewhere. In the end, I could only eat half. It was a shame, because it was so good. I ordered dessert because Jeanette ordered dessert, and if I'm going to have dessert, I'm not going to share. Needless to say it was delicious, and I didn't eat it all. I didn't think I would. But, I wanted to say that I at least tried. And I did. I tried. We walked and talked a bit after dinner, and then I went back to my room. I remembered that I had written out my postcards Monday night, so I decided to go down to the front desk and buy my stamps. Karen (was in class with me on Monday) found me on the way back to my room and asked me if I wanted to get a glass of wine with her at the bar. I said yes. I figured that I had nothing else better to do, and why should I stay up in my room when I could watch the election results downstairs with everyone else. The two of us ended up flirting with the bartender for more than two hours. I told them all about how my cousin wears my clothes and good things happen. I wear my clothes and nothing happens. The bartender said
Is she as hot as you?
Way to shut a girl up. I had no idea what to say to that. I know I'm cute. I know I am. Beautiful? Hot? Yeah, ok, you must be on drugs. However, no one since the rocker has said that to me, so I accepted said compliment after about 10 minutes of silence. At 11:30, I finally crashed, and went to bed. I had an awesome evening, and I couldn't wait for session in the morning.

MAX2004 - Day 3 Continued
The nice man around the computers got me connected to a cable. Now I can blog on my own machine! YEAH! Too bad I forgot my power supply. Tomorrow, I'm set! I know what to do, and how to do it! I hopefully will be connected at the hotel tonight. Won't that be nice? I decided not to go to general session. I bet I live to regret it, but oh well. I think tomorrow I'll be going to the yarn store during general session. Doesn't that sound like fun? Lunch is soon, and I'm hungry after my chese sandwich for breakfast.
