my garage sale find

squares with concentric rings by w. kandinskysaturday morning, my mom and i got up and decided to go garage sale’ing in palo alto. if you are going to go look for good stuff, you should look in a good area, right? so, after a stop for some lovely bagels, mom and i got started…

lets talk about this here, just for a second. i’m going to go look for stuff to purchase with the woman whom i promised i would not spend any money for the month of july. does this make sense? anyway, back to the tale…

so we get to the first good sale, where we purchase a small double boiler, 3 small pyrex bowls and a small hand sifter. all these lovely things came to a grand total of $2.00. no hageling necessary. pretty cool!

so the next good sale (which was very difficult to actually get to, but very worth the effort) was near oregon expressway. we drive up, and there is a HUGE wassily kandinsky print. we get out of the car and i said, mom, do you like the print? she said it’s lovely. of course, it had no price. so i asked, and was told $40.00. at this point, i’m like, “mom, got $40?” she hands me a $20, and i tell the woman, “here is $20 to hold the print. we need to go to the atm to get more cash. we will be right back.” a trip to bofa and 10 minutes later, and i’m putting this wonderful print in my back seat!

after this awesome purchase, mom and i visited the flea market at paly, where we found a shoe rack for $5. with such a great haul, and it now being after 2, mom and i went home to hang our big purchase.

you should see the dining room. the print gave the room a lift that it was just lacking. i’m thinking it’s party time!
