a victory for the sabercats, and for me.

as you may recall, i was supposed to go to the sabercats game with my nephew on friday night. i made all the arrangements with my ex-brother-in-law. i bought an extra ticket, i was ready to go.

let’s just say that things didn’t work out as i had hoped.

thursday night, the rocker and i started calling around to see if anyone was up to going to the game. at 10, i was looking for anne on aim, and ms. nikki caught me and asked me if the baby had been born yet. i told her yes, and then told her about my dilema. (i hadn’t thought to call her because she lives in south of santa cruz, it’s a long drive) i didn’t even have to ask. she said, my nephew and i would love to go with you if you haven’t found anyone to go with you.

WOW! nikki drove from pebble beach to san jose to go to the game with me, no questions asked. what a great friend, wait, what an awesome friend. there are times in your life when you wonder, is life mostly fate… thursday night, my life was fate. this was meant to be. it’s like the parking gods. you gotta trust in them.

so, nikki showed up at 5:15 on friday to pick me up from work. we went to spag fag for dinner. her nephew was so polite at the table, and cute as a button. we had such a good time eating pasta and talking. i’ve not had such good conversation in a long time.

then we drove over to the game. it was bandana night, and i bought a sabercats mini football to play with while the game was on. WHAT A GREAT GAME. first off, the kid was taken with one of the kittens. it was so cute. he would hide his face, and then sneek a peek at the kitten. she would wave, or look at him, and he would get all shy again.

i remember boo at this age. we went to walt disney world. he was too shy to meet sleeping beauty. he couldn’t touch her because she was too pretty. it was nikki’s nephew was the same exact way.

the game was close. the sabercats were behind for most of it. they had two touchdowns called back, but in the end, they won it with an interception.

after, we all went back to my house and nikki and i sat up for hours talking. it was nice having someone to talk to who is having simular problems as i am.

now, ms. nikki is hooked on the sabercats. the two of them are coming up for the next friday night game. i can’t wait to see her nephew! i bought him a bunch of matchbox cars to play with. it’s going to be a blast.
