Current Projects

I've been busy knitting (instead of doing homework), and I wanted to share... This is the olive green purse that I'm going to felt using the Tiur Dalegarn I got at Stiches. I'm really enjoying the pattern. I love that it's so huge right now. That means that it's going to felt up to the point that you can't see the stiches. That's the way I like it. I think the color is fun, and in the end, the bag is going to have a 40's feel. At stiches I bought 2 skeins of Cascade 220 in this beautiful … [Read more...]

Stitches West

Ok, so I was really bad at Stitches West. Really bad. Ok, so not really bad. I said I could spend $200. That's what I spent. Missey Andrea told me that she thought her mom would like to join me for Stiches. I was so excited to have someone to go with me! On Friday night I called Andrea to see if her mom wanted to join me. She said, I don't know, lets ask her. Of course, she wanted to go. That was so cool. In the morning, Andrea, Tabitha and Dee came over to pick me up. I showed Dee … [Read more...]

Gwen’s new fashion scarf

So, I've been eyeing the berroco suede for months now... trying to figure out what I'd do with it. I finally decided that I wanted to own some. I bought a ball... I also had been eyeing crystal palace's squiggle. I loved the ends... I had to have it. You know how it goes. So, I put the two together, decided on 10 stitches and started to knit a scarf. What you end up with is my first fashion scarf, knitted for myself. I know, I've been knitting for myself a bunch lately. I know, there … [Read more...]

Secret Pals Questions!

Here are some questions to help out my secret pal... Oh, I can't wait to "meet" you! 1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer high- a nd/natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you? I prefer wool. Doesn't have to be expensive, but I really like it best. Not a big fan of cotton. I like name brands, but I've knitted with Lion brand in the past, and I'm sure I will again. 2. Do you spin? Crochet? Nope. I think I'd like to learn, but I've not been brave … [Read more...]

Poncho Poncho…  the picture

So, here we are, a picture of me in my Poncho Poncho! Ok, so I really need a haircut, but i think the poncho turned out so nice. The only thing I haven't finished yet is the string that goes through the holes around the neck. It's also supposed to have two pom-pom's... About the pom-pom's... I'm fricking 37 years old. REALLY. Can you tell from the picture? NO, I know you can't. So my dilemna is this... Do I add the pom-pom's to the string and look even younger than I do OR do I not add … [Read more...]

Poncho Poncho!

I knitted a poncho for myself last week out of Rowan Big Wool. Initially, I had knit a sweater, but I hated it. Really. It was horrible. I did a poor job finishing, and it looked like crap on. The poncho is out of the Stich and Bitch handbook. It just happens to use the same yarn as I had 10 skeins of! I think that was a happy accident. I wore my poncho to work today. I just adore it. It keeps me warm, and when I have it on, I say "Poncho Poncho!", and I smile. Most of the things I … [Read more...]

This year’s Christmas CD…

(click image for a bigger view) Now, hopefully those of you on the Christmas Card exchange list have already recieved this. If you haven't, I sent out a few more today. Next year, when you see my button, don't be afraid, just TRADE! And, for those of you who are curious about the little girl in the picture... That's me, circa 1972. I had just been hit in the face with a snowball. And, yes, it's true. I'm crying, not laughing. If you are interested in the playlist, just look in the … [Read more...]

Felting, felting, felting!

Tonight I felted the three other bags... I felted the Noro first. It took almost an hour. I was shocked! I expected 20 minutes. But everytime I looked, nothing was happening. Finally, I boiled some water, pulled the purse out of the washer, poured in the boiling water, let things agitate, and put the purse back in. Finally, it began to shrink. FINALLY. It's still not quite as small as I'd like, but I think it came out ok. I forgot to take a pre-felting picture. That made me … [Read more...]

A busy knitting weekend

So we all know that I was sick for the past two weeks. While I was sick, I decided that I should start getting ready for Christmas. I know, it's not even halloween, but hell, I was laying on the couch, wanting to be busy, but unable to do much. So, I picked up my knitting needles and started by finishing things that I needed to finish. I finished that green cable knit turtle neck sweater I was working on. Then I finished this uber cute poncho (a gift for my friend Anne's child Emily). … [Read more...]

CDX 2004: Here come some reviews!

I'm going to start showing you some of the awesome cd's I recieved from CDX 2004. I'm going to start with The Man From Zeno (from now on MFZ because the other is really too long to type, he is also formerly known as Astrofiend). {I have to give MFZ his props here. I have forgotten to give him credit for several songs I used on my entry this year. He went beyond the call of duty to get those songs to me, and then he even gave me some new music by artists I didn't know just for fun. I think … [Read more...]
