5 questions from geoffrey

i offered to help geoffrey out and answer 5 questions for him… did i think he was really going to make me think? i guess i did… so here are his questions, and my answers.

now i need two people to answer questions for me! can you help a sister out? just send me an email… or leave a comment! i’ll be kind, i promise!

1. Should marriage between same sex couples be federally recognized? Why/Why not?

i honestly believe that if two people love each other, they have the right to stand up before god, their family, friends, and government and say that they are committed to each other for the rest of their lives. it is not my place to say that two men or two women do not love each other enough to do this.

i also believe that our local and federal governments spend entirely too much time worrying about what is going on in peoples bedrooms. what goes on in the bedroom is between the (hopefully) two consensual adults that are engaging in the acts, and no one else.

so, if two people commit to each other and are willing to go through the steps to get married, they should be penalized by the federal marriage tax no matter what their sexual orientation.

i think we should let anyone who wants to pay extra taxes, pay extra taxes.

2. If you were the opposite sex for one day, what would you spend it doing?

most of the men i know would choose to spend that day fondling the new found breasts that they acquired in the exchange. i don?t think being a man just for one day would be all that exciting. i mean really? so, there is a penis, and i could pee standing up. ok, so that took up 2 minutes. i could f*ck like a man, but really, that isn?t much fun, is it? i?d much rather have the emotions that go along with the f*cking.

i think i would go and test drive expensive sports cars. i find that when i walk on a car lot, the salesmen ignore me. i think part of that has to do with the fact that i barely look like I?m 25, but still. so, i would. i would test drive a lotus esprit, lamborghini murcielago and a ferrari 360 modena… and a mini cooper.

i think that if i were to have a year as a man, then i could really do something, and make some changes. there are always going to be things that are easier for a white man to do… but for a day, there isn?t really that much that i could change, so i would drive cars.

3. What does the American Flag mean to you?

i have been to the smithsonian and seen the star spangled banner. it makes me cry. isn?t that funny? it really is one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen. the same thing happens when i sing the star spangled banner at the beginning of a sporting event. i cry, with complete and utter joy. i am very proud of my flag and what it means to this country.

the american flag is a symbol of freedom. it reminds me how lucky i am to live in a country where i can say what i feel and no one can tell me that i am wrong. it allows me to move freely across the 50 states to see the beauty and glory of this land. it gives me a sense of security, that i know my country is looking out for my best interests and is going to protect me when i need it. it also is a symbol of hope. things can be better. just look what our forefathers went through to get us to this point.

i am proud of the american flag, and i am honored that I have the opportunity to be one of the citizens of the united states.

4. Is the war in Iraq illegal? Support your answer.

is the war in iraq illegal? support my answer? what a question! honestly, i don?t think we should be in iraq. i believe that we are fighting a war because the little bush is mad that saddam made his daddy look like an idiot. do i think the war is illegal? i guess not. i think that little bush got our troops over there under false pretences… i think that too many of our service men and women have died for no good reason. i think each and every one of them should be at home with their families.

that being said, i support our troops with every ounce of my being. they are doing their jobs, and they are doing a great job at that. i think it is irresponsible that little bush sent them over there… i think that little bush lied (and continues to lie) to the american people. i think little bush needs to be taken over bill clintons knee and get a spanking for misbehaving… but i don?t think that the war is illegal…

yes, i know, i didn?t really support my answer. knowing where the question came from, i?m thinking i?ve done enough damage with what i?ve already said… should i say it now, i?m a liberal democrat…

5. Some states require community service for people on public assistance. Is this appropriate? Why?

i think this is a wonderful idea. i believe in public assistance. sometimes people just need a little help. it is important for us to help others when they are in need. i do think that all too often, people on public assistance get stuck in a rut. they don?t see a way off of assistance. they see dead end jobs at mc donalds or at the local car wash, not an end to welfare.

by offering (or even requiring) community service, or even volunteering at the community level, people are given the opportunity to see that there are lots of other options available to them. employers, in the position of hiring or recommending, can see how well the person on the assistance does in a work environment, and can help them find a way out of the system.

i was out of work for almost 2 years… i was laid of, and i couldn?t find a job to save my life. i decided to volunteer. it was the best decision that i have ever made. i was able to keep my skills up, meet awesome people, and in the end, i met someone who was willing to help me find a job. she jumped through hoops to help me. she wrote letters of recommendation, she called friends, she even offered me some hourly work to help pay for some bills. volunteering helped keep my confidence up and my spirits high.

volunteering has the same effect regardless if someone is required to participate or if they do it of your own free will. at the end of the day, you know you did a good thing, and you were good at it. anything that helps your self-esteem will help you get off of welfare, and ultimately, that is the goal, right?

  1. Good answers!

    I’ll leave #4 alone.

  2. That was interesting. I liked the response to #5—was pleasantly surprised by it. OK, even though you don’t know me, wanna shoot some my way? smile

  3. #1. Same sex marriages should be allowed. It’s a legal status that is bestowed by a government agency. It’s a legal contract between two people. Religious and personal views shouldn’t un-Constitutionally prevent it.

#2. If I was a woman I’d fondle my breasts..hehe! I’d then go to the bathroom and find out why they go to bathroom in groups. Hehe

#3. The American Flag is a symbol of freedom. I have to laugh at people who burn the flag. They’re think they’re protesting something…but what they’re doing is proving that America is the home of free speech and expression.

#4. The war is unnecessary. It happened because Bush needed to be seen as “doing something” about 9/11. We should have backed an Iraqi led rebellion and let them do their own rebuilding with some of our help, and the help of the U.N. Now we’re going to pay twice the cost in dollars and lives and will be blamed for non success and blamed as installing a puppet government if we succeed.

#5. Community service for public assistance is a great idea. There is always a need for community service and it is a good way to filling that need. It’s a help/help or win/win situation.
