Do you really need a title?

So, I’ve been working on the Linen stitch scarf that I got in Seattle.  It’s absolutely beautiful.  I’ll take a picture when I’ve done the cast-off later tonight.  I’ve decided that I’m going to make another one with the orange that I got in Vancouver.  I’ll be looking for compliments to it tonight at knitting meetup.

I’ve been a tad bit depressed lately.  The baby really does make you think about things that you don’t normally care about, and then totally become obsessed with them.  I’m so totally worried about getting a crib.  I don’t like most of them, and the ones that I like are more than $700.  Who needs a $700 crib?  I don’t.  But, I don’t like the others out there.  I guess I’m just going to get the one at Target that matches the $20 dresser I bought a few weeks ago at a garage sale.  It’s a ChildCraft dresser with a fold down changing area.  It matches most of the other furniture in the house.  I really like the dresser, but the crib, yeah so so.  Here is the crib from Target, and here is the crib I like.  See the difference?  And now, I think the natural wood version of the Target crib is not available.  See what waiting gets you?  Nothing.  Bah.

You know, I just wish that we could afford the nursery of my dreams, and that I didn’t have to worry that previous events in our lives weren’t going to keep me from taking the maximum amount of time off of work…  I feel like the money all comes down on me, and I really hate that.  Especially because it doesn’t have to.

  1. Y’know, if this is any consolation, the baby isn’t going to care so much about whether the crib coordinates with the table…  And if s/he does, that can come out in therapy years from now, and you just deny it…  I’ll back you.

Maybe if you get some cool crib sheets and a blankie, you won’t notice the crib so much.

  3. While I do understand your dilemma, of course Lisa is right.  The baby won’t care and you’ll only use it about 1 1/2 – 2 years.  Think of all the diapers the difference in price would buy!

But I do see why you like the other one so much better.  Everything always seems to come down to money.

Also…once that precious baby is here…you’ll be so in love that what the baby is sleeping in won’t matter a bit…you’ll be too happy.

  4. Hope you had fun at meetup tonight!  Sorry to be missing it—way too much work right now.

Hey, have you checked this out?

I’m SO NOT a Walmart subscriber, but it looks cuter than the one at Target.

    And how about IKEA?

I’m one to talk though.  We never bought a crib.  We had a cosleeper when Miss H was an infant, and when she outgrew the cosleeper we bought a California King and kept her in bed with us.  It made breastfeeding SO MUCH EASIER.

    wink

    Happy shopping!!

  5. $5 says baby will spend more snuggle time in bed than the crib…  wink

  6. Craig’s list? “Crib wanted, high end brands only”.  Ya never know.  Always good to separate decor worries (hard enough!) from money & parenting worries. grin
