SI Make & Take July 20!

On July 20th, I’ll be doing a Make & Take at my favorite place to be, Scrapbook Island.  If you haven’t visited the Island, you really need to.  And what a better day to go than July 20th, where I will be teaching a Make & Take.  For $4, you get to learn a new technique, and then when you are finished, you get a $4 store credit!  It’s like a free project!

So, I watch Scrap Time and last week, I think, Christine showed us a technique with black gesso and Dylusions Mists.  I said to myself, I think I can do that, and what a great Make & Take.  I could make a card out of this technique!

So, I got some gesso from SI and took out some mists…  and lookie!

What I didn’t like…  Paper curling!  If you want to do this fast, you have to dry the paper, which means, well, curling!  If you use too much gesso, you get some raised areas, which is kind of a mixed blessing!  It also means that the gesso goes under the template. That is kind of messy.

What I did like…  The way the colors mixed together.  I loved that I got some purple and oranges from turquoise, bubble gum pink, and yellow!  The high contrast of the bright colors and the black.  It’s so yummy.

So, here is my project for the Make & Take:

Instead of using a sheet where I did the whole template, I picked one big flower, and then one small flower…  And I loved it. I’m not so sure about the turquoise burst behind the flower…  But the idea is awesome!  So stop by…  Visit me on the Island.  You will have fun, I promise!
