a beautiful day for a beautiful bride

last weekend, i went to phoenix to my cousin amy’s wedding. my cousin cin and i flew in about an hour a part. she got in at 1, i got in at 2… i feel pretty fortunate that we were able to get a free car and hotel for the weekend. that made things much easier. christmas isn’t that far off, and i’m feeling the need to spend tons on that rocker boy of mine. anyway, i digress, as usual.

after getting lost on the way to the hotel, and then getting lost on the way to help get the hall ready for the reception, cin and i finally figured out where we needed to be. it was quite funny. the two of us being lost in phoenix, driving this bright orange mustang. i think we looked good… but it was a weird color. when we reached out destiation, most of the work had already been done. what a nice job amy did getting everything ready. soon cin and i were hard at work putting the centerpieces together while my aunt, uncle and cousins worked on getting the rest of the tables set up. it was nice to be with family, and having us all work towards making amy’s day special.

uncle benny is such a kidder. i thought that amy was going to hit him a couple of times when they were practicing walking down the isle, but she restrained herself. how lucky she is that her father was there. i know that my dad had a very difficult time during marilyns wedding. it’s really hard to be there for your old family and your new family at the same time. i hope that my dad pays as much attention to me when i get married. benny was so attentive to her. it is nice to see that they have such a good relationship.

the wedding itself was lovely. amy was such a beautiful bride. my aunt made her dress… and it looked stunning on her. amy’s daughter looked so grown-up. it’s hard to believe that she is already becoming a young lady rather than a girl. her new husband gave his new daughter a promise ring before amy and he were married. it was one of the kindest gestures that i’ve ever seen. he promised to keep her safe. he even wrote out what he was going to say. what a kind man. i think that amy has finally found some one who is worthy of being with her. someone who loves her, and is going to put her first. you could see their love through out the evening…

amy’s cousins made most of the food. the dinner was good, but let me tell you, the cake was absolutely fab! i could have had an entire layer just for me. they made the frosting just how i like it, and i got a flower. you can’t beat that. good frosting and yummy cake. heaven.

going to this wedding reminds me that i am now the last cousin to get married… and the only other cousin that hasn’t had a child is like 8 years younger than me (hey merrie!). trying to keep your chin up in such situations is kinda tough. i’m glad that i had cin with me. she kept me laughing. it was hard to feel sorry for myself with her there.

so, here’s wishing the new married couple a very happy life, and all the joy that marriage can bring.
