driving the w12 phaeton

so on monday, the second real holiday of 2004, i got to drive the sup’ed up w12 phaeton. what does it really mean? i got to spend another day with my dad. since i don’t see him that often, i was pretty excited.

i got to the city about 9:03 am… dad was there waiting for me. we filled out the paper work, got the mini tour of the car and we took off. i drove the car to danville, where we had breakfast with andrea. we let her drive the car for a bit. no, we weren’t supposed to, but we did. she went 70 in a 35. i thought that was interesting.

dad decided after breakfast that we should go to woodland. now, i’ve never been to woodland, so i’m thinking… ok, should be fun. i drive us to woodland. no hills, no bends, just flat straight driving. then i see where we are going. the russell stovers factory outlet. yes, my diabetic father had me take him to a chocolate factory. lucky for us, they didn’t have what he wanted… chocolate whips.

we left the factory, and dad made that car go 120. you couldn’t even tell that you were going 120. there was no feel of speed. no noise, no nothing. he is braver than i… i’d never go 120. but, all that speed made us miss our exit, and cost us about 1/2 hour in time. smile

then we went to vacaville, to the jelly belly outlet store. apparently, andrea wanted belly flops. we also went to the eddie bauer outlet store, the kb outlet store and had lunch at in and out burger. (i bought 2 really cute skirts for $11.99 each, got to love a good deal!)

then we went back to the city and returned the car. can you believe it? i spend the entire day with my dad shopping. not driving around… not making this car perform… we went shopping.

i had the best time. i can’t tell you when the last time i went shopping with my dad. i think i was 12. last time we took the v8, and we talked and talked. this time we took the w12 and we still had something to say. what a great day.

thanks dad.
