NO! NO! NO! yes!

While we were on vacation, we were always looking for fun things that we could all enjoy. When we saw the signs for Ben Nevis, and gondola and ropes course, we said "awesome! something for the whole family." We found out when we got there that there was really only time for us to do one thing. The gondola ride or the ropes course. John and I really wanted to do the gondola. Sean wanted the ropes course. So, of course, we did the ropes course. Or Sean did the ropes course. It's not really our … [Read more...]

We Went Down… The Big Pit

One of the most thrilling things we did on our vacation was to go down the Big Pit in Wales. It's a coal mine that is now a National Museum of Wales. It was amazing. I've never been in such total blackness. It's kind of eerie, but in the same sense, it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. Getting into the pit was hard for Sean. He had quite the hissy fit before we went down. I'm thinking he needed some park time. It was misting out that day, and we hadn't planned to be inside, under … [Read more...]

The Search for Blue Plaques

As I continue working on my album from my vacation in England, I'm having such happy memories! This is one of those crazy memories of things we did, just because John thinks it would be fun... And don't you know... It really was. It was a great way to get Sean engaged in British history while having fun hunting for something small.  We ended up having a great time looking.  It didn't hurt that John paid Sean £1 for each one he found. Again I used ephemera.  This time I used the London tube … [Read more...]

A Stream in the Sky

I can't believe how crafty I've been as of late. It's like my mojo trapped by my appendix, and when it came out, so did it. Yesterday,  I printed pictures for two LOs.  And, that Heidi Swapp is still hanging out on my desk.  I also was listening to an old Paperclipping Round Table, that featured May Flaum.  She was talking about small letters that she was running out of...  Which reminded me that I still have a TON of those Sassafras letters!  So I pulled out a color that "went" with the … [Read more...]

Afternoon Tea

I still have all this beautiful Heidi Swapp Memory File product on my desk, so I said, "hey, let's make a LO!" Today, I went back to my incredible vacation to the UK at the beginning of the summer.  One of the little things that happened was I got to have tea.  Yes, John and Sean sat with me...  But I didn't have to share, and they didn't want to join in.  It was amazing.  I don't know what it is about having tea that makes me feel incredibly special, but I do.  The last real tea I had was … [Read more...]

Making Lemonade!

As I mentioned before, I had my appendix out 4 weeks ago today. It was very scary. I knew something was wrong. I was listening to a conference call that started at 9 am. By 10, I was hurting. I called my husband when the call was over and told him something wasn't right. I went right to bed, and my son was amazing. He just had a quiet Lego kind of day. At 4 pm, I called my husband again and said, "You are coming home soon, right?" We fed Sean dinner, called a friend to take him, and went … [Read more...]

More Ephemera!

Before my appendix came out, I was pretty prolific. Now, it's still hard to sit for long periods of time. My poor belly button will never be the same... But I was talking about using ephemera. And, I've been using tons of it. Not just for vacation LO's. For just about everything. What is great about this, is that my personal style is standing out clear as day! Right before we went on our big trip, we went to Bottle Rock. It's a huge three day event in Napa with bands of 5 stages. Not … [Read more...]

A divorce by any other name would smell sweeter…

Genealogy is such an interesting topic.  For most of the people in my tree, I'm happy to have a birth, marriage, death, and census record.  For most of the women, it is much less. Lately, I've been focusing on my maternal grandfathers line.  I'm sure that he has lineage going back to the Revolutionary War, and I've got one or two records to go and I've got it all documented.  The 1910's and 1920's were bad for documenting I guess, as that is where I'm hitting brick walls. Anyway, there … [Read more...]

Vacation Scrapping Progress

About three weeks ago, I had my appendix out. What a scare.  I stayed over night for two nights, and had such an intense pain.  It hurts crazy bad.  I've been unable to sit for long periods of time because, well my belly button hurts.  So, I was making tons of progress on my vacation album, then it all came to a stop. Luckily, Scrapbook Expo helped get me back on track!  While my husband's birthday normally falls on a Expo day, this year, it fell on the Sunday, and we only cropped on Friday, … [Read more...]
