It’s been an interesting day. My son pretended to mow the lawn for 2 1/2 hours. That was fun. I made a dutch baby, which is well, yummy. I ate a ton of cherries to go with it. I think I’m going to make cherry chocolate brownies tomorrow. Then I need to pit, and freeze my cherries. I don’t want them to go bad, and I think Sean has a “date” on Friday to, well, pick more cherries. This is going to be an interesting social distancing experiment.
I also made pizza today. It’s become a weekly thing. Two pizzas made in cast iron pans. Both sausage, as I’m out of pepperoni. I put black olives on one, just because I could. Making pizza is very comforting.
Abbey LOAD – Day 23: Something (song)
Story: What is something that moves you? (emotional/physical)
Technique: Include something that moves on your page… or arrows to symbolize motion.
In the beginning of this COVID-19 thing, we were walking everyday. Sean was doing PE with Joe. As time moved on, these things stopped. I am not walking, which is not good. But the dogs are getting walked at least 5 days a week. So, yeah moving… Not so much. I really thought about what was moving me these days. It’s pretty simple. My whole life right now is food. What’s for breakfast mom? What’s for lunch mom? What’s for dinner mom? It never ends… And then I thought about the 50lbs of flour that I bought early on. That’s it. Flour moves me. It moves me to try new baking, like bagels, and Anadama bread made with polenta. As soon as I can get to the store to buy spices and dried fruit, I’ll be making celebration bread.
So, I decided to scrapbook about my flour. I’m so grateful to have it. And I’m grateful to have the pound of yeast I got for Christmas. It’s enabled me to not have to buy bread (although, I’m missing grilled cheese sandwiches, but it’s summer now anyway). I’m also getting the best rises. I know when enough it enough, and to stop rising. My shaping is getting much better, and I’m becoming a very confident baker. Everything is tasting good.
I’m so happy with this. It came together so fast, and with ONE scrap. That’s it. The round pieces were the back side of the paper! I think it was Pink Paislee… Yep, Hey Kid, Marco Polo, 2013. I punched 3 small circles out of the red backing paper… Added embellies and a title. That whisk, Doodlebug, a Christmas line from 2 years ago, if I remember correctly. That’s it. I didn’t add a picture of the pizza, or both sets of bagels, or the many batches of brownies… But this flour brings me joy. I’m so glad I bought it.
What’s bringing you joy today?
