Good Morning, Henry Dog

Scrapbook LO of Henry, and black mini poodleOne of my most favorite things to do is to go to Vivian’s house and play with her new toys.  The last time I was lucky enough to spend time in her studio, she fed me home grown sugar snap peas from her garden, and she let me play with her brand spanking new Life Made Simple dies from Sizzix!

When I first saw them, my heart started racing.  See, I’m on a budget, and I’m not shopping…  So, I don’t know a lot about the new stuff out there.

Vivian had the basics, overall patterns, and love die sets…  The overall patterns had this awesome honeycomb, and love had these cute hearts…  Believe me, I couldn’t wait to get started.  I went through some of her sparkly Core’dinations paper, found some great pinks and greens, and went to town.

First thing I learned today, don’t forget to take your piercing tool when you go to Vivians!  You never know when you are going to need to poke things.  I poked a lot this day.

I ran the dies through the Sizzix, and then I had problems getting the little pieces out, even with the piercing tool!

Then I learned something else!  Vivian told me to put waxed paper between the die and the paper!  She said the little pieces would pop out easily.  It worked like a charm.  I just ran my finger over the back of the dies, and out popped the little pieces!  And, as a bonus, you get the waxed paper pieces, which are shiny and give a little shimmer on the page (see my LOAD Day 15 layout to see what I mean).

Before I knew it, it was time to go home, and I had no work done…  Just these great little 4×3 and 4×6 cards that I had punched out.

Move forward a couple of days…

While I was cropping at NSD, I remembered that I had these cards I had made with Vivian, and I had this great picture of Henry.  I also had a bunch of Project Life cards that Serena gave me about 6 months ago.  The pinks in the Project Life cards went so well with the cards I had already made with Vivian.  I layered things up, added my favorite Thickers , a cute piece of Michaels flair, and some cheap letters I got at Target, and a layout was born.

Let me tell you, I love it when things come together so easily.  And since I’m not really a Project Life scrapper, I have been looking for ways to add the cards to my other projects.  As you can see, using Project Life cards makes a fun, colorful layout, quickly!  And as for those Life Made Simple dies from Sizzix?  They are on my list of things to buy…  In the mean time, Vivian?  When are we crafting again?  Or can I just borrow them for an undetermined period of time?  Hee Hee!
