Busy, Busy, Busy!

I’ve had this little weekend project since last September, new bathroom fixtures… Not that I’ve had a ton of weekend time to work on it, but I’ve had it. For Christmas, my Aunt came down from Davis to help out around the house. She offered to help me get my project going. We put together the base cabinet, and then I went and started the plumbing. Hmm. Things didn’t go as we planned. The plumbing fell apart in my hands. A very small set back. A plumber was called, … [Read more...]

The newest flower…

For those of you who are wondering just what have I been knitting lately, this is it. The flower. I enjoy making them because they take nill yarn, even less time, and they are beautiful! I also like finding the perfect button to put in the center! This is a vintage button from Lisa... Isn't it perfect? I gave this one to Jessica. She was wearing a differnt knitted flower on Monday, so I thought, she needed one that I made. Let me tell you, this one was hard to give away. And, for … [Read more...]

Just to keep you up to date, my projects…

This is a baby blanket I'm making for a woman at work. It's really a bright purple. It's knit corner to corner. I've got two skeins of the yarn, I figure I'll just keep increasing until I need to change skeins, then I'll decrease. Should work well. It's called sherpa. I started knitting this baby sweater for Ian, but I'm afraid he is too big for it now. I need to finish it, and give it to baby Rowyn. He should be able to wear it in a year or so. I bought this yarn at Stitches … [Read more...]

New to me knitting mag!

So, I get this email from Stitch Diva, saying how nice it was to meet me at Stitches West. Hmm. Do I remember meeting anyone? Who knows. Anyway, I perused the site and saw this logo down at the bottom... What is this I see? A new online knitting source for patterns? A Canadian Knitty! OH MY GOD! You know what they have a pattern for? Restraints. I know you don't believe me... I didn't believe it myself. I need to make these restraints. NEED to make them in a major way. Oh my god … [Read more...]

A LYS right around the corner!

I'm trying to start a stitch and bitch on campus. Today was our first meeting. Ok, well, there was just me and another woman, but that's fine. It's a start. We talked about all sorts of things, including where we buy our "supplies." She buys most of her fibers on eBay. I've bought somethings on eBay, but I really like to touch things before I make a purchase. I told her that I shop at Knitting Arts over in Saratoga. She was shocked! She said, why do you go that far? I told her the … [Read more...]

Current Projects

I've been busy knitting (instead of doing homework), and I wanted to share... This is the olive green purse that I'm going to felt using the Tiur Dalegarn I got at Stiches. I'm really enjoying the pattern. I love that it's so huge right now. That means that it's going to felt up to the point that you can't see the stiches. That's the way I like it. I think the color is fun, and in the end, the bag is going to have a 40's feel. At stiches I bought 2 skeins of Cascade 220 in this beautiful … [Read more...]

Stitches West

Ok, so I was really bad at Stitches West. Really bad. Ok, so not really bad. I said I could spend $200. That's what I spent. Missey Andrea told me that she thought her mom would like to join me for Stiches. I was so excited to have someone to go with me! On Friday night I called Andrea to see if her mom wanted to join me. She said, I don't know, lets ask her. Of course, she wanted to go. That was so cool. In the morning, Andrea, Tabitha and Dee came over to pick me up. I showed Dee … [Read more...]

Gwen’s new fashion scarf

So, I've been eyeing the berroco suede for months now... trying to figure out what I'd do with it. I finally decided that I wanted to own some. I bought a ball... I also had been eyeing crystal palace's squiggle. I loved the ends... I had to have it. You know how it goes. So, I put the two together, decided on 10 stitches and started to knit a scarf. What you end up with is my first fashion scarf, knitted for myself. I know, I've been knitting for myself a bunch lately. I know, there … [Read more...]

Secret Pals Questions!

Here are some questions to help out my secret pal... Oh, I can't wait to "meet" you! 1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer high- a nd/natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you? I prefer wool. Doesn't have to be expensive, but I really like it best. Not a big fan of cotton. I like name brands, but I've knitted with Lion brand in the past, and I'm sure I will again. 2. Do you spin? Crochet? Nope. I think I'd like to learn, but I've not been brave … [Read more...]

Poncho Poncho…  the picture

So, here we are, a picture of me in my Poncho Poncho! Ok, so I really need a haircut, but i think the poncho turned out so nice. The only thing I haven't finished yet is the string that goes through the holes around the neck. It's also supposed to have two pom-pom's... About the pom-pom's... I'm fricking 37 years old. REALLY. Can you tell from the picture? NO, I know you can't. So my dilemna is this... Do I add the pom-pom's to the string and look even younger than I do OR do I not add … [Read more...]
