Saturday in NYC

Saturday Snidge and I slept in a bit, and didn’t really get started until after 10. It might have been later. I can’t remember now.

I tried to get us tickets to Avenue Q, but alas, there were none available at the 1/2 price ticket place and even worse, none available at the box office. Basically, we were screwed on seeing Avenue Q.

It was then, we decided to walk. And walk, we did. We walked from the hotel down to Chelsea where we had the nicest Chinese food. I had Soy Sauce Chicken. It was absolutely delicious. Snidge had something with curry. Not a huge curry fan, so I didn’t try it. Let me tell you, the food was dirt cheap. That chicken with rice was $4.75. Super yummy, super cheap and I couldn’t eat it all! I wish I could remember the name. Who knows, we paid cash… Not even a credit card receipt to help us out.

Then we started walking towards the Village. In the Village we stopped at Chocolate Bar and Crumpler. I bought the yummiest chocolate at Chocolate Bar. So yummy! And I bought this uber cute purple bag at Crupmler! I will take a picture later. I think Snidge was a tad bit jealous of my bag. Don’t be surprised if you see one on her site too.

Then we went by this little burrito place where I bought a present for Lisa. I’d say what it is, but her husband might spill the beans. We also bought yummy cookies there!

I bought more presents at this little comic book type store for Stephen… Can’t say what that is either. Actually, I’ve said too much as it is.

Then, we got to these stores that Snidge knew, but I didn’t. I bought some Sugar at Fresh, which smells so very yummy. I’m not a perfume person either, which makes it all the better!

Then we went to Olive Bette, where I bought the cutest rain boots, which I am now calling my “wellies”. I wanted to wear them to work today, but it’s not raining. Oh well.

We walked some more, and we stopped to have another snack. I had a really dry cupcake. I was very sad that the cupcake place across from Olive Bettes was closed. It looked like it had excellent cupcakes. I think we were still in the village. Who knows! We were just walking.

At some point we ended up in SoHo. How fun and busy is SoHo? I love SoHo. Snidge bought a shirt. I was good. I just bought a couple of necklaces.

At somepoint we had sushi near this music store. There was a guy playing steel guitar, it was beautiful. The guitar and the sound. I was very impressed… I made Snidge wait for a minute so I could listen a bit more. We really should have found some live music to listen to while we were there. I would have liked that!

Then we walked by CBGB, and into Little Italy. We had the most absolutely fab vodka pizza in Little Italy. Did you see the picture on Snidge’s site? I swear to god, it was the BEST piece of pizza I have ever had!

Then we walked to my favorite shoe store in the whole world… It was closed. I was bummed. We grabbed a taxi and went back to the hotel…

  1. EVERYONE that I tell the story of us walking from Times Square to Chinatown is amazed.

I think we did so well because we were just walking and talking and we’d stop and take a break and get something to drink and then we’d start up again.
