LOAD517 – Day 4 – It’s my lucky day

I decided that I would scrap our October vacation, so today’s prompt didn’t really work for me.  “Tell a story about your childhood adventures in singing, dancing, acting, dress-up, or other ways you were the “center of attention”. Use tiny elements on your layout!”  Yeah, I’m not really in the mood to talk about my childhood…  Besides, I’ve got great stories I want to tell about the National Parks in California that we visited.

I immediately thought about this Hambly overlay I had stashed away.  Honestly, I have tons of Hambly overlays.  But, that’s not the point here.  I love the gold leaves.  It reminds me of fall and we were on vacation in the fall.  Perfect.  Then, I found this Studio Calico chevron paper.  It fit well with the cream card stock. Then, I found a Little Yellow Bicycle journaling card (and cut it), then added some Studio Calico and Michaels wood veneer, and some super old Amy Tangerine leaves, and Little Yellow Bicycle corrugated cardboard…  A few Studio Calico butterflies finished things off.  I am so very happy, even thought it doesn’t translate well in this photograph.

LO - It's my lucky day

We had such a great time in Mammoth Lakes.  We had a nice dinner, then came back to the hotel.  There were notes all over the place about bears.  We took these notes very seriously.  Unfortunately, we had a TON of food in the car.  We carried bags of food into the hotel.   Finally, John and I searched that car.  We thought we got all the food, we really.  It was hard.  Sean had candy everywhere.  Literally.  But alas, we didn’t find it all.

In the morning, we came out to this HUGE scratch on the car.  Then, we looked in the car.  There was candy in the center console, and there was candy in the drivers side door, and there was candy under the car seat.  We are so very lucky that the bear didn’t get in the car.  Things would have been much worse for us.  If the bear had broken a window, we would have been in Mammoth Lakes for an additional day or two.
