Alameda Flea Market

Today, instead of doing my homework, I went to the huge Alamedia Art’s and Antique show. Yes, it was HUGE. We walked for just over 3 hours.

Heavenly Days ChargerIt was a beautiful day to be out. I am pretty sure that it was 65 degrees when we got there, 77 by the time we left. Bright blue skies, just what you would expect from a Northern California day. We got there about 10. There were tons of people there. Lots of rock-a-billy folks, all dressed in their vintage. I just love the look, I really do. As much as I’d love to do vintage all the time, I don’t think I’d be able to find enough to wear… And, while I could sew for myself, I just don’t have the time.

I set out looking for a Heywood Wakefield chair for my living room. I told myself I could buy it if I found it. I didn’t find one. I did find a Heavenly Days chop plate. I paid $12 for it. It was an ok price. I saw a pair of Heavenly Days salt and pepper shakers. When I asked how much I was told $25. I put them down. That was the “look, it’s someone who must NEED those” price. Yeah, I have 2 pairs of Tickled Pink ones, I don’t really NEED blue ones.

tabitha's new table cloth dressThen I went to a booth where they made little girl dresses out of vintage table cloths. They are adorable! I bought one for Tabitha. I know she will look so cute in it, and her mom will appreciate the fabric! I’m thinking that I need to start collecting vintage table cloths for Andrea’s mom. She has been making all the new babys clothes. I know she could make these little dresses in a snap!

I bought both my things in the first hour or so. I was hoping to find a bunch more, but there wasn’t that much I really couldn’t live without. This new budget thing must really be working. I’m not impulse buying. smile I was pretty proud of myself. I didn’t even buy girl scout cookies, and they even had the ones that Tish was talking about.

Besides the sunburn on the back of my neck and nose, I had a wonderful day! It was so nice to get out. I even think I’ll figure out how to get there next month.

  1. I wish they had things like that somewhere near me. I LOVE that dress too. Never seen anything like that. I almost want to make some for my nieces now!
