LOAD514 – Day Eleven, Everybody Loves Pete!

Today we had a very easy prompt, Puppy Love.  The first dog that I remember we had as a family was Pete.  When my Grandpa Dapper came to visit in late summer 1982, he told my mom and dad that kids need a dog.  He and my mom went down to the pound...  And here came Pete. He didn't have favorites, he loved us all the same.  He hated squirrels and the mail carriers.  He loved spaghetti sauce and snow.  He was hit by a car the first winter we had him. We all really did love him.  He was a good … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Ten, a peek into Daddy’s World

Today's prompt.  The telephone.  Yep, the telephone.  Is that what I did?  Nope.  Is that what I planned to do?  Yep.  I was trying hard to find a photo of me and a telephone.  It didn't happen. I've got 1000's of slides from my childhood that are sitting in a box in my family room.  My dad marked a few of the boxes.  I swore there was a photo of me on the phone...  I spent 3 hours looking for it, while I wrote descriptions on the slide boxes.  I never found the photo. What I did find was … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Nine, The Bus Stops Here

Today's prompt was "The Little Red School House."  What an interesting prompt.  Of course, I went a looking through the slides, yet again.  I was looking for Jefferson Elementary School, or the actual building of Flint Open School in 1976 or so.  I couldn't find it.  Boy it's hard searching for photos. Then, I found this...  A great picture of Cook Elementary School in Flint, Michigan.  I did not go to this school.  I looked at going to this school.  I remember spending a day there, and being … [Read more...]

LOAD 514 – Day Eight, Music Junkie

For today's prompt, we are back to music.  Soundtrack of your life.  Well, hell.  What part.  I saw the example and thought, I could do the Wedding Song by Peter, Paul, and Mary.  It makes me cry every time, and I walked down the isle to John by it.  It's a great story, and kind of a sound track. Then I found this picture.  Me in 1972 with two record players...  One was my Fisher Price record player, which I loved! The other, a real one, and real records all around me.  Ok, so they are Disney … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Seven, It All Began Today

So, I've mentioned before that I recently finished my December Daily.  When I heard the prompt: Most Wonderful Time of the Year, I wanted to puke.  I did not want to do a Christmas LO.  I really didn't.  But I can't deny it.  Christmas is my most favorite time of year.  I plan out my calendar weeks in advance, and try to ensure we have a great time. Christmas last year sucked.  It was like pulling teeth finishing the daily.  So, I went back to my first Christmas.  Well, technically my … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Six, It’s the end of the budget as we know it, and John feels fine.

Hmmm...  Today was misheard lyrics.  Bah.  I don't like this prompt really.  I thought about it and thought about it.  Then John said, Michael Stipe mumbles when he sings, so write about your record.  I said ok, I'll write about my record. My record, my very expensive Record Store Day exclusive that I couldn't find in a store, that I paid through the nose for.  That I'm sure will come back to bite me in the butt, but it is signed by Mike Mills, and he is my favorite.  So, I have one.  And the … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Five, When I grow up I want to be…

Today our prompt was: When did you think you would become an adult.  I don't think I'm an adult yet...  So I was feeling hard pressed to complete this prompt.  I thought and thought...  Slept on it even.  Then I remembered this photo I took of Ms. Dani's board.  It was perfect for this prompt. What I love most about the picture I took is that Sean is the only kid that picked something that really isn't a career.  There are doctors, singers, electricians...  Even a monster truck driver.  But … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Four, Jessie Pins

For LOAD Day 4 the prompt was "Dear Santa." Let me tell you... I just finished 3 months of working on my December Daily. I love Santa. I have loved Santa forever. I am rarely one to run from a Santa LO. But this time I was like, please doG no, not Santa. But then I thought about it. Someone who is important to me is Jessie. She is an awesome character from Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. I've loved her for years... And I collect her pins! A LOAD LO was conceived. I have lots of pictures of me … [Read more...]

National Scrapbook Day 2014

Now... NSD started on Friday night and lasted through Sunday at 5. I completed 17 LO's. I'm beyond proud. Three of the LO's are featured for LOAD.  The rest are pictured here.. I'm not going to describe all stories. Most of it is recent. I'm just so glad that the stories are down on paper. … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Three, Boxing Day

For Day 3 of LOAD, our theme was "Mom, I'm board." I remember playing board games, but I remember much more Boxing Day parties at the Spillets, where HUGE groups of people would sit around a seemingly HUGE card table (remember I was 4 - 12 here) and play UNO. Yep, Uno. Not a board game, but who cares! We laughed so hard, and some one was always being picked on, even from someone who was sitting across the table. I remember that sometimes the parents played, but sometimes they didn't. I always … [Read more...]
