LOAD218 – Day 2

Today prompt had three choices, the first one, I was confused about.  The second one, use tiny elements, was interesting.  The third one, use a galaxy theme on your layout, automatically appealed to me!

On this massive trip that Sean and I took this summer, we visited Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve.  WHAT A PLACE.  Words really do not do it justice.  Lucky me!  This place really met the galaxy theme!

I didn’t really talk about process yesterday, but today is a great day to talk about process. In the middle of the night, I remembered that I had this really cool Studio Calico paper with a moon on it. I knew it was perfect. I cut the moon out, and placed it towards the top of the page. I had two pictures that were wide angle, and the same size. They seemed to need to be lifted and matted, thus I did. I’m an ephemera junkie, and I found the things to do brochure, I cut it up, and placed it behind. I knew I wanted to journal, so I just extended from the title. I love pins, and the Maya Road golden star pins are perfect here. Then I thought, what do I have that’s small? Black and bronze star sequins to the rescue! I’m beyond happy with this.
LOAD218 - Day 2a

About Craters on the Moon, all I can really say is wow! I can’t remember how I found out about this place, but it was on the itinerary from the beginning. There is an amazing visitors center when you first drive in. You don’t have to pay to visit it. It has such clean bathrooms! The shop is great, and there are lots of park rangers to help you plan your day. They have a lunar ranger program AND a junior ranger program. Unfortunately, we missed the junior ranger program.

LOAD218 - Day 2b

It turned out fine, as there was so much to see and do. There is an amazing 7 stop tour, with things to learn at each stop. There is a lunar ranger program, but I have so many stories from this park, that I might revisit this. So… No fun list of remembrances.
