SP11 Questions (ok, more questions)

1.  What is the one knitting accessory you could not live without? Hmm…  I’d say there are two of them.  I love my swift and my winder.  They make life so much easier! 2.  If you’re heading on vacation, do you take knitting with you?  If so, how much and what type of project? I normally do.  I take something that does not require a lot of thought, like a scarf.  I always try to bring enough to complete 2.  Always hoping that I will … [Read more...]

Pretty, Pretty handspun from Gotland

One of the things I love to do on vacation is find some handspun yarn from the region or country. Did I hit the jackpot at Sticka.  Sticka is this absolutely lovely little yarn store in Gamla Stan, the old town of Stockholm.  John and I found this store on DAY 1 of the honeymoon.  It was good, and bad, all at the same time.  First, it was such a cute little store, with such an AWESOME selection.  I was just like a kid in a candy store, regardless of the morning sickness … [Read more...]

Secret Pal 11 Questions

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I adore wool, worsted weight or bulkier…  I really don’t like cotton or acrylics. 2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? Right now…  They are in a plastic bin, in their cases.  I really need a better organization system.  I admit it. 3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, … [Read more...]

I’ve been knitting/felting (before shots)

I’ve been working hard and I have a bunch of things to talk about…  in the purse department. First, I mentioned last week that I was going to work with some purple Lambs Pride Worsted.  I really felt like I wanted a small bag, that looked like a little basket.  I wanted a ruffle at the top, and I wanted a circular bag.  I decided that I wanted the handle to be one that ties into a knot so that you can have it hang from your wrist.  This is what 4 days riding … [Read more...]

Niko’s Red Scarfs!

I really felt like I needed a “project” to get back into my knitting.  Something really easy, that would go quickly, and honestly, something that I wouldn’t keep.  When I got the email from Knitting Arts about Niko’s Red Scarf project, I knew I had a winner. In the last 3 weeks I’ve knitted 3 scarves for the program.  One “nice” one, knitted in Cascade Quatro, one knitted in Lion Brand Homespun, and finally one knitted in Red Heart.  … [Read more...]

I’m going to write about knitting

I have not necessarily decided to blog again, but I have decided that I have time to knit again.  And I have decided to knit purses.  Why purses you ask?  Well, I love purses, and I love felting, and well, I’ve found that I have some extra time.  I’ve been riding the bus to work.  Not because I need to, I mean, I have three cars..  It’s just that I’m trying to lessen my carbon footprint, and more importantly, trying to lessen my stress … [Read more...]

John’s version of the proposal…

I wanted to propose to Gwen on a day that had some meaning and would be a surprise for her. We were going to see El Vez (the Mexican Elvis) on the 21st and it occurred to me that it would be really cool if I could do it on stage as part of the show. So on the 18th, I emailed El Vez at the email address found on his web site and I had a reply the next day. He said he would be glad to incorporate my proposal into the show and he had the perfect spot for it too! I really didn’t think … [Read more...]
