Embellishments with Emma King

Yesterday, I did something for myself. I know, shocking isn’t it. I’ve not spent a lot of time doing things for myself as of late. So, when I saw that Emma King was going to be at Knitting Arts for a one day class on embellishments, I decided that was something I really wanted to do. Part of taking this class came from the decision not to take classes at Stitches West. I had planned on it. Really, I had. Then I payed off one too many bills. Unfortunately, that meant that I … [Read more...]

Spoil-a-Blogger 3.0

So, I’m going to do it.  I can’t believe I’m going to, but I am.  I am hosting Spoil-a-Blogger for the third time.  THIRD.  This time the dates are from February 6 - April 6.  Ok so I know it’s strange dates, but I wasn’t together enough to get things ready for the first, and if we wait until the 15th, we miss Valentines Day.  I don’t think I should make the participants miss Valentines Day! So, if you want to participate, send … [Read more...]

It’s socks, I think…

So here is the deal with the Knitting Olympics.  I’ve decided to do the socks.  I know, for you sock knitters that seems pretty simple.  Honestly, I know they are not difficult, but I have this weird adversion to them.  I feel like the needles are so small, and I will forever be dropping the double points. Then there is also the issue of what a slow knitter I am.  I try to be quick, really I do…  But, I’m just not.  There are just so many … [Read more...]

Should I make a pair of socks for the knitting olympics?

Ok, so here is the deal… I’m very intrigued about doing the Knitting Olympics. I’m really interested in doing something that would be challenging to me, that would be fun… So here is the scoop. I have the yarn to make this sweater in a pretty gray or lilac (ok, so not very challenging, but pretty). I have some twinkle-toes sock yarn in pink that my SP4 sent me, that I’ve never used (and ya’ll know I have an aversion to knitting socks, maybe I could make lacy … [Read more...]

We are at the 1/2 way point!

Just incase you were interested in the progress in the kitchen…  This was the view on Monday.  There have been some minor changes since then, only for the better…  Like the moved the gas line into one of the cabinets, and they moved the plug for the range hood so it would be hidden by the chimney.  Other than that, no changes. Tonight the first big change comes…  The flooring is being installed today.  By next week, everything should be ready to … [Read more...]

What is it about Desperate Housewives that I just don’t get?

Ok, so I’m sitting here watching the Golden Globes. Really I’m just watching to see glimpses of Heath Ledger, but you know. Anyway, I was really surprised that Desperate Housewives beat out My Name is Earl. Have you seen My Name is Earl? Damn, that is one funny show. And not only is it funny, you get a douse of good karma every time you watch. It has meaning. It’s good, in a good way. Then there is Desperate Housewives. I’ve seen it once. I just didn’t get it. I … [Read more...]

It’s Gwen, Raunchy Style!

So last night, Jessica and I continued on our weekly happy hour trend, only this time we went to Paragon Restaurant instead of Scott’s Seafood. I didn’t think I was going to drink, but then Jessica said, of course you are going to drink. So, we scanned the bar drinks menu for something really light weight. Then we found it. A cooler made with fresh lemonade and raspberry infused vodka. The bartender made it pretty weak. What was cool was that I really couldn’t taste much … [Read more...]

Kitchen?  What kitchen?

Here was my kitchen on Sunday night.  Notice, Daisy has to be in the middle of all I do.  She set this shot up. This was my kitchen yesterday.  Daisy is visiting neighbours at my old house while work is being done in the kitchen.  She gets entirely too nervous. This is my kitchen today.  Still missing Daisy…  The house is lonely without her. Good thing I have a fridge in the dining room and a microwave in the living room.  I’ve been told … [Read more...]

Secret Pal 7 Questions

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? I love to knit with wool. Then, wool blends, alpaca, mohair, and the like. I even own camel and quivet. I don’t avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand, but normally, they just aren’t what I’m knitting with. 2. Do you spin? Crochet? Nope and nope. I’d like to learn to crochet. I’m not too sure about spinning. 3. What do you use to store your needles/hooks … [Read more...]

Recent knitting projects!

Just when you thought I must be too busy with bathroom upgrades to knit, I bring you my recent knitting projects! First, flowers!  All made from wool, most with the same pattern…  I like knitting flowers, they go really quick and you can do so much with them.  Embellish purses, put pin backs on them, just play with them! Then, purses!  I LOVE knitting purses!  The first, is a purse made from Noro Kureyon waiting for me to make a few more before I felt it.  … [Read more...]
