Letting the realtor go.

After much discussion and a ton of frustration, my mom and I let our realtor go. It’s kinda sad really. Neither mom or I could figure out who he was working for. It was like we would find something to put a bid in on, and he would talk us out of it. Then he would make excuses later as to why. This last time, and the time before, the other agent was playing games. Who knows who was playing games. I don’t.

Later on in the day, I get a call from his boss apologizing for what happened, and asking if there was anything he could do to help. Yeah, ok, I really want to work with this guy’s firm at this point. Then he says the guy I just let go has cancer. Hmm. Now I’m being guilted into staying. Hell, that’s why I was still with him in the first place, I figured that he had taken me out looking, we should just stick with him.

Now, I hope I’m doing this smartly. I’m going to interview a few agents, and see if I like any of them. I need to feel like I trust my agent. Besides, this is a huge deal, 6% of 600,000 at least. that is a ton of money. I need to know what an agent is going to do for me. I’ve got my eyes open now.

  1. You can never be too careful when it ccomes to that stuff!

  2. It sounds like you made the right decision, give that 6% to someone who really earns it.

  3. I hate when people use guilt in business!  It’s just sooooo hitting below the belt.

  4. I don’t know about the US, but estate agents over here are notoriously slimy people. Good luck with the house hunt!

  5. ugh, don’t get me started on realtors. i know it’s not nice to slam an entire profession, but I have h ad at least 5 negative experiences in the past year with them, and it gets old. good for you for finding a new one.

  6. Sorry this didn’t work out for you. Hope the next realtor is better and that you find your dream home!
