the governator lets the state grieve

you know, there are lots of good reasons to work for the state. tons... this week, the best reason to work for the state is that the great governor of the state of california has given his employees a day off to grieve the passing of president ronald reagan. thus tomorrow, daisy and i get to sleep in. then we get to go return my movies, then i get to go to the mall. i find retail therapy always helps the grieving process, don't you? thank you, oh wonderful governator! … [Read more...]

my brain fails me again.

so, i changed purses this morning. i used the red, white and blue le sportsac purse yesterday because it holds a ton, and i knew i'd be going to the library at lunch. because i have a lunch date, and i'm wearing black, i decided to change to the new uber cute black and white daisy bag. i transfered my wallet, my gum, my lipstick, my badge, and my new camera... did i transfer the stupid cable? NO. ok, so i need a card reader at work. i'm going to have to break down a buy one. i'm getting … [Read more...]

moving day

today, our office moved from one side of the building to the other. it's been an icky process. icky. not that i like work, but it's been one more "lets not tell gwen what is going on" thing. whacha going to do. not much. go with the flow and move on. lucky for me, i didn't have much to move, and i'm already set up. other people are still moving stuff. it's crazy the amount of stuff that they have in this office. boxes and boxes of personal stuff. i moved everything in 4 paper boxes. … [Read more...]

venus, goddess of love

you know, i just love this space stuff. this is an incredible sight. the exploratorium has an awesome webast about the event. they sent their scientists over to greece to follow the transit. the webcast includes a brief introduction of greece, how they photographed the event in 1882, and then the history of the transit of venus. … [Read more...]

hello?!? brain, are you there?

my beautiful new olympus c-765 arrived in the mail yesterday. i was so excited! i called my neighbour and asked her if she would put it inside for me. i didn't want someone to see it, and take it. i got home, charged the battery, and 2 hours later i was ready to take pictures. hmm. what to take pictures of? i wanted to take pictures of the pretty bougainvillea that is growning up the oak tree across the street. but it was too dark. i tried to take pictures of daisy, but to my dismay, … [Read more...]

come here chinga

missey andrea and i went to the dog park again on saturday morning. there were not as many dogs there as there have been in the past. there was this cute mutt name bosco, a black cocker named chinga, daisy and olive. it was, dare i say, boring. even for daisy. then more dogs started coming. a beagle named snoopy who insisted on anally marking EVERYWHERE. at one point my absolutely intelligent dog decided to lay down under him while he was marking. lets just say, it was gross. really … [Read more...]

do i really have it “going on”

i went to the sabercats game alone again yesterday. actually, it wasn't that bad. i went late, but still got the free gift, a cow bell. the noise level in the arena was 210 decibles. it was so loud. during the third period, i went to get a break from the noise. i decided to go get a sundae (one of the benefits of having arena club seats). i'm sitting there, minding my own business watching the game on tv. when this guy starts a conversation with me. lets just say this. guys don't … [Read more...]

concentration

i'm having a really hard time concentrating today. at my "session" last night, we talked about relaxation techniques, and how they should help with this. i'm wishing i had brought the tape with me. this flitting from my weekend walks in britain book, addiction solitare, bloglines, and cold fusion is starting to get un-nerving. i just wish i could concentrate today. i tell you what, if the cleaning lady wasn't coming today, i would have stayed home. but i get HUGE guilt when i'm at home and … [Read more...]
