LOAD514 – Day Thirty, Matching Lives

Today we talked about special spaces.  I have no special places.  I do have great memories of the house on Grand Traverse Street, and the AWESOME closets.  But trying to find pictures of these closets would be the death of me, because, well, seriously, who takes pictures of closets. So, I had this LO sitting in my crafting area needing to be finished. One thing that I remember most about being little is that Marilyn and I always matched.  We had matching clothes, matching slippers, … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-Nine, $1.25 Breakfast

Food...  I love food.  Today's prompt was all about our favorite foods...  I have lots of happy food memories from my childhood...  Mom's spaghetti & flank steak, Mom's cookies & pies, Vernors, Halo Burger...  And I was going to go there.  Then I remembered my Grandpa Dapper's love of a cheap breakfast.  Every town we went to with him, we had to find the cheap breakfast. When we lived in Troy, there was a breakfast place that he ate at most every day with my mom.  Their breakfast, … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-Eight, 8pm Reader

Looks like the rush is over, and we are back to normal.  Yay!  Lain challenged us today to talk about our bedtime routines.  I don't remember hugs and kisses, like Sean gets every night, but I do remember the 8:00pm bedtime.  I hated it.  I was sure there was so much going on in the house after I went to bed. But, in our house, we didn't have to go to sleep. We could be quietly in our rooms for as late as we wanted.  So, I would read.  I read tons!  I would wake up with books in my hands.  … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-Seven, She wore a purple hat

Today's prompt, a bit easier than some of the others, was magic.  Funny, I didn't really have a magic story.  I'm pretty much a realist.  I wasn't that upset when I heard about the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.  It all made sense. So, I was talking to my dad on the phone last night and I told him the prompt was magic.  He said, well that is easy, you saw The Magic Show in New York City.  And I said, you are right dad, that is perfect.  I pulled out the slides from the New York City trip in … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-Six, I’d ask the hard questions

Today we were back to a thinking question...  If I knew then.  Well, dang.  I wish I had known to ask my grandparents, and family elders, the hard questions. Grandpa Dapper, I want to know what things were like in WWII, and had you met Grandpa Tully, what was he like?  Did you have a girlfriend in England during the war? Grandma Dapper, I want to know why you didn't speak Swedish?  What do you remember about your mother?  What did you like to cook?  What made you fall in love with … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-Five, This was us

UUUUUUGGGGGGGG....  Sibling Rivalry.  Really, Lain?  Really?  I'm pretty sure you had this last Past Perfect.  I looked there is a LO of my sister and I there...  And me saying that I miss my relationship with her.  And now we have to do it again?  Bah. So, here we are...  Marilyn, Mom, and I in Washington DC.  May 8, 2003.  I can honestly say that this is just about the last time we were friends.  It sucks. I opened a Gossamer Blue kit that I still had unopened, and found this heart … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-Four, AOII

It's Past Time Saturday...  And School Spirit!  Hmm.  I didn't really do much with school spirit...  I did theatre.  But, with 4 high schools, it was really difficult to have much school spirit. But, I have a story around being in my sorority.  There is much more to this story...  But, getting into a sorority was so important to me.  I don't know why.  But, I really wanted that sisterhood. I went into my photos, and found some great photos from Presents.  This is the day when the house … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-Three, Do you know, I love you so?

Today's prompt was the playground.  I thought about the playground.  I did.  There are tons of slides of Marilyn and I at the playground when we were young.  Tons.  But, I thought park, and then I thought of the second trip that John and I went on.  We went to Yosemite. I got so carsick.  It was crazy how carsick I was getting there.  The turns made me feel like I had to barf.  Ugg.  Then, I was sick.  It was just a cold, but I felt like ca-ca.  When we got there, they had the reservation … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-Two, Buffie

You know, Past Perfect is not my favorite groups of prompts.  It's really not.  I don't have tons of memories, AND I have few pictures...  I have 1,000's of slides.  It's such a pain.  Today was Pop Culture.  I was tempted to just do my own thing, and move on.  But, in 1982, I wanted to be a preppy.  I really did.  I wanted all those Izod shirts and wool Polo sweaters.  I wanted Pappagallo shoes.  I wanted to be dressed in all those names, in pinks and greens.  I wore penny loafers and argyle … [Read more...]

LOAD514 – Day Twenty-One, I met Lisa Loeb

Wow, three weeks in and I'm still feeling fresh!  I can't believe it.  Normally, I'm known to be crying and complaining my mojo is gone!  But this month, nope.  Besides, I watched Lain's Creative Live class, and inspiration spouted!  I love just listening to someone who is passionate about crafting.  It just inspires me to continue to tell my story.  Even just hanging with Vivian, Serena, and Lei works well.  Where creativity flows, inspiration blooms! Today, we were tasked with Whoops.  … [Read more...]
