Sunday afternoon activities!

Today, I was uber busy. I finished painting the guest room... it's a calming green. I really like it. I'm very proud of myself. I didn't do a great job painting, but it is such an accomplishment for me. The ceiling and all the walls got two coats of paint. It was hard work, but worth the benefit! So I put the room back together as soon as the paint was dry. That included making the rest of the bookcase that I got at IKEA two weekends ago. I'm happy because now it has enough weight … [Read more...]

Another weekend, another haul!

This weekend was the deco show. Normally I forget about the deco show, and remember the week after it happens. This year, I didn't forget, and I got Miz K to go with me. Miz K works down the hall from me. I was surprised she wanted to go, but I'm always up for company. I really was on a mission for things for the house. I wanted to find some cool artwork for the living room. I also needed some knick-knacks. I have this built-in book case that needs to be filled. When we finally got up … [Read more...]

I had a date with not one but TWO married men!

Tonight, I was on a mission. I needed to purchase a gas grill. I put one on hold last night at Target. Who would have known that I couldn't take a gas grill home when I wanted to. I picked a big grill, one that wouldn't fit in the car, and weighed 200 lbs. The guy laughed at me when I told him I had a 4 door sedan with no help at home. He said, get some help, and I'll have it waiting for you up front. Lucky for me, Missey Andrea's husband drives a truck. He lets me borrow it every when I … [Read more...]

Did I ever tell you how much I hate PG&E?

I'm sure I have talked about my hate/hate relationship with PG&E before. I'm sure I have. Today, once again, I called asking them how much I really owe, because I'm sure my bill is wrong. Last month when I called, the "supervisor" told me what the actual dollar amount was, and I paid it. Today, the supervisor told me that I owed $180 and some odd cents. My actual useage this month? $63.00. That's right people, PG&E is trying to take me for almost $120. I asked where this all came from. … [Read more...]

Deco Show in SF

I think that this Saturday I'll be heading up to SF yet again. Not to the Haight this time, but to downtown. You see, the annual Art Deco Show and Sale is this weekend. Normally, I forget. For two years, I've been forgetting. Lucky me, I remembered about 2 weeks ago, and I wrote it down on the calendar. YEAH! Now, after my shopping spree of last week, one would wonder why I would torment myself by going to the deco show. Well... Let's see. I am going to torment myself because the house … [Read more...]

I have smart family!

I've known for a very long time that my cousin Cindy's son Toren was smart. A long time. When my mom and I went to Germany in 1997, you could see it. He was bilingual, German and English. He was doing very well in the German schools, surpassing all of the teachers expectations. On top of all that, he played soccer, and other european sports. He is just an all around, well rounded kid. About a month ago, Toren got into Georgetown. Not only did he get in, he got a full scholarship. No … [Read more...]

Knitting SP5

Ok, so we all know that I'm spear-heading the Spoil-A-Blogger project (currently one month in)... But I have a SP5. So, I'm going to answer some questions for him/her here. If my Spoil-A-Blogger wants to use this information, feel free. 1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you? Hello?!? I'm a yarn whore. Seriously. It's bad. I do get higher quality yarns for the most part. I'm a … [Read more...]

Shoes, glorious shoes!

For weeks I've been dying to go shoe shopping. DYING. I'd spent a ton of time at the John Fluevog website, and I decided I needed to go to the Haight and check things out. So Saturday, I drove up to the Haight. I got there at 11:00 am. Right after the stores opened. It was a glorious day. Mid-seventies, bright blue sky... Seriously, I couldn't have asked for a better day. I got a parking space! That was the best part. Parking in the Haight is a nightmare. I got a space 2 blocks from … [Read more...]
