My secret pal loved me so much that…

I couldn't wait to knit it up! I tried several different widths and stitch patterns, and ended up doing 6 stiches in st stich for 3 rows, then k (yo, k) 5 times. After I got into it, I had wished I had picked to yo twice... But, since I had pulled it out several times already, I decided to just stick with it! I think it came out lovely, and I really like the fringe. I don't normally fringe things. I was going to wear my fashion scarf today, but then I got ready, and wore brown. Oops! I … [Read more...]

Nesting!

Today, I actually spent some time in my kitchen. I cleaned things up, put things away... For being the tinyest kitchen on the face of the planet, things are coming along nicely. Believe it or not, I even washed the big window. Now, if only I could find my good saute pan... Anyway, things are starting to look better in that part of the house. However, I'm having the hardwood floors redone in the two front bedrooms. To my surprise, also the surprise of the man working on the floors, there … [Read more...]

New phone number, new hastles

You know what is worst about moving? Ok, besides moving, unpacking, changing your address... Getting a new phone number. Allied Interstate, a collection agency, has been calling every day. Now, these people never called me before... They started calling the minute I turned this number on. Actually, the second. I've called, twice, to tell them they have the wrong number. The first time I was told that they would mark in the file that this was not the person they were looking for. I was … [Read more...]

Look out, Gwen got a new laptop!

I've been dying for a laptop for years. Years, I tell you. My current computer, while it does the job, is starting to get a bit sluggish. I know, it can't be more than about 5 years old. Here at the college that means that your computer gets replaced. Now, I'm not replacing my computer... I'm adding to my network. Hell, my new house is already wired with CAT5 in EVERY room. Can you imagine. No cable, no phone, but CAT5. Who knows. Now that I've started Grad School (did I forget to … [Read more...]

Is this really my life?

I'm a funny girl sometimes. I want lots of things in life. I ask for them, they happen and I say, "WHAT THE F*CK?!?" Is this really what I asked for? I said that I wanted a new house. I went out searching for a new house. I even wrote down what I wanted in a new house. I didn't get everything I wanted, but it was close. Now, I'm in my new house, it is all mine, and it feels so weird. I think even Daisy is adjusting better than I am. She at least seems to be happy, i think. I really … [Read more...]

Valentines Day!

Valentines Day is always a hard day for me. Normally, I don't have a date. (Actually, last year I had a date, and everything went wrong.) So, on Friday, when I got home from work, and saw a package waiting for me, I was surprised to say the least. I was thinking, I didn't order anything from Amazon. I opened it up and there was a little gift wrapped package... It said it was from a far away admirer. Hmm. Susanna! I have to admit, I opened it, even thought it wasn't Valentine's Day. She … [Read more...]

Stitches West

Ok, so I was really bad at Stitches West. Really bad. Ok, so not really bad. I said I could spend $200. That's what I spent. Missey Andrea told me that she thought her mom would like to join me for Stiches. I was so excited to have someone to go with me! On Friday night I called Andrea to see if her mom wanted to join me. She said, I don't know, lets ask her. Of course, she wanted to go. That was so cool. In the morning, Andrea, Tabitha and Dee came over to pick me up. I showed Dee … [Read more...]

Was SJSU Scobleized?

Let me tell you one of the things I love about the fact that I work at a university. There are always interesting people giving talks about random things. Actually, I've never attended one of these talks before. I've thought some of them have looked interesting, but I never really thought they were available to me. I feel bad about leaving my desk during the work day, you know, I want to be a conscientious employee and all that. Yesterday there were two big talks. One given by Gerald Cory … [Read more...]

Daisy’s new spot!

This morning I decided not to go work out so that I could spend a little more time with Daisy. She seems to be getting back to her old habits. She gave me a doggie bath when I got out of the shower. She played with a toilet paper tube. Actually, she seemed pretty happy this morning. Then, I pushed the bed in my mom's room under the window, and opened the blinds. I said, "Look Daisy!" and she jumped on the bed, and started stairing out the window. It was so cute! When I left, I said … [Read more...]
